We started in 2010 with a pretty simple idea: people here shouldn't have to leave the islands to get proper healthcare.
How we got here
Shanwell Gardiner grew up in North Caicos. He went away, trained as a Medical Technologist, got licensed — and came home to find that not much had changed. If you needed real lab work done, you were probably getting on a plane.
That bothered him. So in 2010 he opened a lab on Leeward Highway. Not a franchise. Not an off-island chain setting up a branch. A proper diagnostic lab, locally owned, run by someone who grew up here and has skin in the game.
It grew. Lab work led to GP consultations. Then walk-in services. Nurses came on board. Insurance medicals became part of the regular offering. What started as a one-room lab became a place where families come for everything — and keep coming back, year after year.
When the pandemic hit, things got real. The public health system was overwhelmed, and tourists needed results fast to get home. AccuDiagnostics became the only private lab in the country running PCR analysis on the COVID-19 gene. The team worked long hours through that period. There weren't shortcuts to take, so they didn't take any.
Now Shanwell's working on the next thing: a digital health portal for patients. Check your results, track your visits, manage your health — all online. It's the first of its kind in TCI. And like everything else at AccuDiagnostics, it's being built here. Not imported.
To be the healthcare provider that TCI can depend on. Not the flashiest operation. The one that gets your results right, treats you like a person, and is still here next year doing the same thing.
Quality healthcare shouldn't require a plane ticket. We want to build a Turks and Caicos where getting tested, seeing a doctor, and staying on top of your health is something you can do down the road — not off-island.

Innovation
We were the first to offer private PCR testing on the islands. Now we're building a digital health portal. Standing still was never the plan.

Shanwell Gardiner
North Caicos born, licensed Medical Technologist, member of the TCI Sports Commission and Health Regulation Authority. Opened AccuDiagnostics in 2010 because he believed his community deserved better options close to home.
Dr. Victoria King
UK-trained GP who has been practising in the Turks and Caicos for over 25 years. Dr. King is a known and respected name in local healthcare. She runs the clinical side of things and sets the standard the rest of the team follows.
Nursing Team
Handle everything from vitals and specimen collection to wound care and follow-ups. Usually the first clinical faces you see after check-in.

Your first point of contact. They manage intake, scheduling, insurance paperwork, and keep visits running smoothly from the moment you walk in.
